The one that always bites me in the rear are the important but not urgent things that (surprise!) become important AND urgent because I procrastinated :|
Ha! I had no idea it was actually a thing. I suppose if I'd done even a moment's research I might have discovered that. I've been using this model for years, was pretty sure I'd thought it up. Probably should have known better. Welp, great minds and all. :)
FWIW, I went this way in reaction to a prioritization model I learned that made a matrix of "impact" against "difficulty." The idea being that things that are impactful and easy are no-brainers, and things that lack impact and are hard, well, why are you doing those? But in my career "urgency" has been a vastly more important parameter than "difficulty" (no one ever really cared if I thought something was hard or not, only that I had it done in time).
And yeah, it's definitely got to be dynamic. When the Exec Producer drops by to let you know the CEO demo has been moved up a week, gotta be ready to reassess that relative "urgency" value.
Yep. The Eisenhower Matrix (https://www.todoist.com/productivity-methods/eisenhower-matrix) has been my go-to for this. Quadratron sounds better and way less business-y.
